Re: My favorite inhalers
Thu, January 15, 2004 - 1:52 AMUsed them all at one point or another except Vanceril. Flovent and Serevent can be found combined as Advair (which I'm on). -

Re: My favorite inhalers
Thu, January 15, 2004 - 12:04 PMLove Advair--tastes good, when it hits the back of my throat, which I try to avoid.
Aerobid makes me puke. BLECH -

Re: My favorite inhalers
Fri, January 16, 2004 - 12:36 AMNever noticed a taste from the Advair, myself but DEFINITELY agreed on the Aerobid *especially* the "menthol" flavored one. YECH! I try to keep peppermint candy handy so I can pop one of them whenever I do the Aerobid. And my doc knows all too well of my hatred of the taste. -

Re: My favorite inhalers
Fri, January 16, 2004 - 6:42 AMOh yes--Yeah, the menthol one is SUCH a joke. The first time I had it, I thought the pharmacist was GOD!!! I mean, WOW, offering me menthol--no more bad taste. Little did I know....
It takes A LOT for me not to puke after inhaling it.

Re: My favorite inhalers
Sun, February 1, 2004 - 1:22 PMAlbuterol definitely. Hardly have to use any because of Singulair. That stuff ROCKS!!! And SF's community health network (for po' folks) covers it!!!

Re: My favorite inhalers
Wed, June 29, 2005 - 10:47 AMAlbuterol and Flovent for me.
Horrible Story:
My son was 3 when he was given Singulair, 9 days later he was dead, a here and gone the next day story. Autopsy came back as an acute pneumonia, although not illness, no fever this is what it resulted in. I feel that the medication was a part of it. He was also on prednozone for 10 days. That's my horror story. Yesterday made it 3 years since his death. -

Re: My favorite inhalers
Thu, June 30, 2005 - 12:31 AMOh, geez! Whatta tragic story! So sorry for your loss. Dunno about the side effects of Singulair esp. on young children but prednisone can do numbers on anyone, depending on dosage and how long its being taken. -

Re: My favorite inhalers
Thu, June 30, 2005 - 7:28 PMI know. Well, said to say, since we are poor folk and could not get any support from experts or lawyers our court case was closed. With all that I have read about the side effect on children...all from seeing things, muscle cramps and paranoia...all of which my son had on his final day...no one would support us. -

Re: My favorite inhalers
Tue, August 22, 2006 - 5:36 PMI feel for you. Predinisone is, from what I heard, tough on the fully grown and healthy. My doctor has prescribed that stuff to me like twice and each time he fills me with booga booga stories about how it can trigger diabetes and cause osteoperosis and can ramp up your nervous system like meth. It's cheap tho which is probablly why you were perscribed it. Some doctors should have their liscences revoked. I thank my lucky stars that Canada has the universal system, for now. My deepest sympathies. People should be made aware of the seriousness of this disease especially since it is on the increase. -

Re: My favorite inhalers
Thu, August 24, 2006 - 6:00 PMPrednisone is my good friend & my worst enemy. It has saved my life several times & helped me with asthma & sinus infections more times than I can count. However, alternate-day prednisone therapy from the mid-80's to the mid-90's (when Singulair was invented) left me with osteoporosis that has taken almost 8 years of Fosamax, calcium, & vitamin D to reverse.
Singulair is my best bud by far. It has dramatically improved my quality of life. It is my one indispensable medicine. -

Re: My favorite inhalers
Fri, August 25, 2006 - 3:25 AMSingulai rules. I couldn't put my pants on before that stuff came on. Has anyone heard of, or currently perscribed Zolair?
